According to surveys, more than 80% of people who feed birds attribute their participation in the activity to one reason, or more precisely, to one person:  a loved one.

Surprisingly in a way, feeding birds is almost always an ‘inherited’ interest. Over the years, we’ve heard many, many stories about how people got started in the activity. In 24 years, though, exactly ONE person ever told us they “just decided to give bird feeding a try.”  Instead, we hear time and again loving, funny, inspiring stories and memories about lifelong connections to loved ones, present and past. Feeding birds is an improbable family bond that spans ages.

For that reason and others, people don’t feed birds to benefit the birds, as is commonly believed; we do it to benefit ourselves. Now we’re not saying it DOESN’T benefit birds, that’s obvious. But the primary beneficiaries? People. Hands down.

So what makes us like it so much? Well, there are probably as many reasons as there are people who feed birds, but one thing is undeniable: hanging a feeder gives us a reason to LOOK UP.  Historically, humans have physically and metaphorically looked up for guidance, courage, hope, or in gratitude. Today, looking up can also be a simple reprieve from screens, a break from ‘virtual’ life to savor our REAL one.

And then there’s the increasing evidence that shows every time a person connects with nature (and feeding birds is most certainly that) we feel better; physically and mentally. Studies show that even the smallest interactions with nature can reduce stress and anxiety, make us relax, boost our immune system, help us sleep better. Nature, it turns out, is a Super Drug!  Feeding birds is just an easily accessible way for most people to ‘get a daily dose.’

So, if it’s really about us (and it really is) why can’t it be easier? When virtually everything else we buy offers a convenience-option, why does bird feeding get a pass?

That’s what WE wondered.  And it bugged us so much we invented a bird feeding system that uses a ‘TV dinners for birds’-style of bird feeding. Instead of awkward, bulky bags we put seed in convenient, sealed, recyclable, stackable trays. For BIRDS it means a clean, safer feeding environment. For YOU that means,

NO MORE:

  • heavy lifting; or,
  • scoops; or,
  • funnels; or
  • storage bins to keep rodents out of seed bags; or,
  • scrubbing dirty, gross feeding surfaces

We eliminated the worst part of feeding birds, so you can focus on the best part: ENJOYING them!

If you appreciate convenience year ’round, or just want lesser maintenance chores during tough weather months, here you go. This one’s for YOU.

You’re welcome.
